Designed by Jasper Morrison in 2009, the Smithfield ceiling light from Italian brand Flos is a timeless design with an industrial touch and direct light. The lighting body is made of aluminium and is available in gloss black, matte black, white, red, green or MUD colour. The opal methacrylate diffuser is injection molded and provides a soft diffusion of light. The luminaire has a steel bracket for ceiling or wall mounting. Smithfield carries on the legacy of traditional craftsmanship and can be selected in PUSH or DALI dimming options, allowing it to be incorporated into professional lighting systems.

The name of the lighting refers to London's famous Smithfield Market, known for its industrial architecture and history of craftsmanship. With this design, Jasper Morrison pays homage to the simple, functional luminaires that once illuminated work spaces and marketplaces. The result is an elegant and practical light that bridges the past with modern interior design.

Minimalism with hidden details

Although the Smithfield looks simple at first glance, it hides a sophisticated technical solution - an injection moulded methacrylate opal diffuser ensures soft diffusion of direct light, and thanks to the optional PUSH or DALI dimming, the light intensity can be controlled according to the current needs. This unobtrusive but thoughtful approach makes lighting an ideal choice for both residential and commercial spaces.
